Golf, sometimes changes her life. Everyone knows that, but this is the different story.13 years pass away soon since Emi Godai worked part-time for the first time as a caddy in 2.008 LPGA Championship. She now is a member of Rookie Camp but then, was a student of Nippon Sports Science University. She was in charge of the tournament official of LPGA Championship,Kyoko Kadokawa.

“ I was surprised to see the beautiful scenery outside rope. I soon realized I wasn’t even at high level of supporting players. When I got nervous. Kadokawa spoke to me, ‘Are you a bit anxious?’ She was all kindness. I don’t forget that,” she revealed.

Besides, in the morning of the first round there was an incident that had a big impact later on the Godai’s life. Whne Kadokawa found her golfbag was prototype, and too heavy for Godai. Kadokawa changed it to not heavy. “I was touched. We together put golf clubs into a new golfbag laughingly. Everybody know a professional golfer has high technique. She is also prominent in character.”

When she was born, her weight was 2,300 gram, as it were, a premature baby. “I seemed to have a little control over my head.” Her parents were afraid of her physical weakness and got her to go to a physical exercise school. “In my childhood I dreamed of Olympic. But when I was a middle high school student, I hurt my knee. Then I thought a gymnast career was so short. I started playing golf when I was fourteen,” She said.

However, she didn’t think she was playing golf in order to being a professional. While studying in University she competed even in the National Athletic Meet. “I was just lucky. I wished I could turn to professional after graduated. But I couldn’t show a god result for 4 years.” She gave up turning to a tournament pro,and started to work as a business woman. But she was never satisfied with “hobby golf”.

One year later she found the occupation,“teaching-professional”, on the website of LPGA. Then she knew for the first time an unexpected way of life. “The money my parents spent on me and the time I spent playing golf sincerely, I can’t make good use of. When I found this occupation, I was really excited.” She quitted her job and concentrated on getting a qualification. 8 years have already passed since then, and this year she finally got license.

‘I won’t give a lesson to students until I got grade-A,I had decided. It was never a rule but for me, particular. I had been working in the Kindergarten coaching gymnastics for 8 years,” and she added, “In the curriculum of teaching-pro I had learned how to smile, how to handover a business card and how to communicate with others. At first I felt strange but later realized they were all important and useful for my work,” she emphasized.

"She is now engaged in an activity in Minato-ku,Tokyo to spread golf. Her hobby is Sado, the Japanese way of Tea Ceremony. “I like all Japanese style, in particular after the Coming of the Age Ceremony. I came to like Kimono very much. On special day I’m always in Kimono.” By the way, a pink polo shirt, a uniform of Rookie Camper” also suits her well."
